How do these treatments fit together?
Care begins with an evaluation, and everything else follows from it. Once your provider understands your symptoms, history and goals, you decide together which combination of counseling, lifestyle strategies and medication makes sense.
Plans are rarely one thing forever. Follow-up visits give you a chance to review what is working, adjust what isn’t, and keep treatment aligned with your goals as life changes.

Frequently asked questions
Which treatment should I start with?
Most people start with a psychiatric evaluation. It gives your provider a full picture of your symptoms, history and goals, which guides whether medication, counseling, lifestyle changes or a combination makes the most sense. You don’t need to choose a treatment before your first visit.
Can I combine medication and therapy?
Yes. For many conditions, combining medication management with supportive counseling is a common approach. Medication may ease symptoms, while counseling helps you build skills and coping strategies. Your provider will talk with you about what fits your needs and your preferences.
Are these treatments available by telehealth?
Yes. Evaluations, medication management and counseling can all take place through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform for patients in New Jersey. In-person visits are available at our Hackensack office when clinically appropriate, and some plans may require occasional in-person visits.
How often will I have follow-up visits?
It depends on your treatment plan. Follow-ups are often more frequent when you are starting or adjusting a medication, and they may be spaced out once things are stable. Your provider will recommend a schedule, and keeping those visits helps avoid gaps in care.
